Getting an idea

Hello again.
So last week my partner and I were at a loss for what we wanted to do for our animation project. We had seperate ideas of continuations of other projects we have done but we weren't really excited to be working on any of those ideas. Throughout class I was looking up styles of flash animation trying to pick out a style we both liked and wanted to try and do, because to me the style sets the tone of the entire project. So we settled on a marionette style which could really lend itself to a broad genre. This is the best example of kind of 2 takes on one style. *if the link didn't work look up Katzenjammer - A Bar in Amsterdam on youtube. So after that we really just started talking about stuff so get some ideas. We had gone from funny experiences, to music videos, animating comic sketches like Dane Cook, mysteries of the world like big foot or loch ness, and then to poems.

We played around with the idea of the mysteries of the world idea. Maybe thinking about doing a spoof on it kind of like ice age. Where the squirrel does something minute and stupid and turn out he created the grand canyon or something stupid like that. So we both liked that idea to be more funny.

Then I looked into poems for children. I had found ring around the rosy and told Jamey we could do something like that. He didn't really get it so I had to ask him if he knew the history around the poem. So I explained and went on to try and find other poems of the sorts and that's when I found the little match girl. Needless to say we both really liked it. It is a more serious and darker mood than the mysteries of the world idea.

So we have two ideas to choose from. I think by the end of that class we got a lot accomplished. I'll probably be working on sketching the characters for both in a couple different styles and see what we like best.

On another note I want to talk a little about my other classes as well. I have two photography classes this quarter too. Now before those classes I thought I had a pretty decent camera, but it turns out it doesn't shoot raw files :/
I'm kinda disappointed but I shouldn't complain. So anyway one of the assignments is to get two pictures of water, one indoor and one outdoor. Now I have plenty of ideas for this but for some of the idea I need more than just myself. I'm having trouble finding people to help me out with my ideas cause people end up getting busy and don't have the time. So I've just been taking pictures with water in the picture but I'm concerned. I'm not sure if that's ok because I think water needs to be the main subject in the photo. Then in my other class we are using lightroom and this is where I can really tell my camera isn't as good as I thought it was. When I had zoomed in it pixilated. I don't think that happened to anyone else in the class :[

So those are my dilemmas in my other classes.
Thanks for listening.

Begining of a new quarter

Hey guys.
The new summer quarter is here. To start my classes off I have Intermediate 2D Animation with Heath. This should be interesting since I'm not an animation major however if the school did majors and minors I think I would have minored in Animation.
But anyway these blogs are an assignment to that class to update the progress on my project in the class. I should probably explain the project first before I update for anyone outside of my class ends up looking at this blog.
If I want to go with the idea I came up with in the class before this one I'm about half done. If I want to work with a partner I'm thinking I'll have to do something completely different and start all over. As for starting all over I really have no idea what I really want to do. Probably something along the lines of Bitey of Brakenwood or maybe as bizarre as Salad Fingers .
I think it would be more fun to come up with something completely new and different. Not sure if we should do something more towards the graphic design like a commercial or what.
Hopefully we can pull something off that will be just as awesome as the other group projects we've done.
There is a lot of other stuff we need to think about like the style of animation and how the scenes will be shot like camera direction and what not. I just hope we don't bite off more than we can chew with this project.
